Many Digital Acceleration news in the last two weeks. I’ll cover four news about the implications of Conversational AI (ChatGPT-like) solutions
As always, this will be simple and concise but accurate. Click on Subscribe if you want to be informed of new episodes.
1. Google on ChatGPT:
Did you know that Google has invested millions of dollars in AI solutions in the last couple of years? For an undisclosed reason, they didn’t make their plans public, and now they are moving at full speed to catch up with the noise OpenAI/Microsoft is making on Conversational Natural Language Processing.
First, ChatGPT caused a Code Red at Google, and Google’s Executive team switched gears to accelerate the development of their AI-based solution portfolio.
Secondly, on Feb 3, Google announced a Partnership with Anthropic to deliver Reliable and Responsible AI.
Multiple sources comment that Google staff are currently testing a conversational AI Chatbot called “Apprentice Bard” that responds similarly to ChatGPT.
Why is this news relevant?
We have already published two episodes on ChatGPT, Ep42 (What is ChatGPT) and Ep43 (How much can ChatGPT learn in a week)
In these episodes, I made it clear that ChatGPT is a solution that provides a new level of interaction with the audience.
I have already tested ChatGPT intensely on topics such as Sustainability, Digital Marketing, Poetry, Digital Acceleration, and Digital Disruption. In all cases, I found eloquent responses with several pages long of relevant information.
This move confirms our initial comment that ChatGPT will impact many businesses widely and intensely. The IT Marketplace will move fast to provide a conversational front end to end-users.
This is just the beginning, more to come. Stay tuned.
2. Israel’s President became the first world leader to use ChatGPT during a public speech publicly.
This sounds funny, but it is not. Business Insider reported that during one of President Herzog’s speeches, the initial and final paragraphs were created by ChatGPT.
Why is this news relevant?
It is fascinating how many professionals are documenting the need for more maturity of Conversational AI tools, such as ChatGPT, while only a few individuals are using this technology to improve the quality of their work.
Personally, I don’t see Conversational AI as a technology intended to eliminate jobs, but it certainly is a technology that, wisely used, may provide enhanced capabilities to high-performance Professionals.
3. A Revamp of Plagiarism detectors
You already know there are several plagiarism tools in the market to help faculty identify non-original content.
Solutions like Grammarly have helped content creators (like myself) to keep their content clean, polished, and original.
Others, such as SCRIBBR, among others, have been used by many colleges and universities to detect content duplication.
Wired Magazine has a fascinating article about how Universities are rethinking Plagiarism because of new AI-based content creation tools.
Why is this news relevant?
As these AI-based solutions are not an individual but a technology, the original definition of plagiarism -to use someone’s work or ideas without giving proper credit- is in a gray zone.
4. OpenAI announced a new solution for detecting Content created by an AI-source
The solution is called AI Text Classifier.
Promising, yet still unmatured. I did a test myself, loading the tool with more than 1000 words created with an interaction between ChatGPT and me: the format was close to a chat between two professionals sharing thoughts about sustainability, and the tool responded to my request as the text to be unclear if it is AI-generated.
By the way, a fascinating dissertation. Maybe you would like me to share a future episode about these “discussions”. Let me know…
Why is this news relevant?
I think we are under a new category in providing information to audiences. Some professionals would use this technology to accelerate their research before writing original content. Others may try to use this technology, duplicating the original content with minor or no editing.
I think there will be two significant concerns audiences will be interested in identifying:
- Original Content
- Biased information
This is the beginning, more to come.
Good enough?
Interesting that today’s episode consisted of four news under one category (AI)
